We recently got invited to a little event in Northampton by the guys over at Walsh Casual. They are currently at the Northampton shoe museum exhibiting there extensive back catalogue and historical information.
Unfortunately, due to logistical reasons and working a full time job I couldn’t attend, luckily our trusty friend Mark, over at COMMONN store attended and was able to give us the low down on what went on;
Walsh Sports is Britain’s only wholly owned, designed and manufactured Sports footwear company. I hope you all finished reading that sentence before shouting, “What about New Balance !”
Dating back to 1948 but established in 1961 by Norman Walsh, Walsh is still to this day designed and manufactured in Bolton England under the careful guidance of current owners Jon and Dennis Crompton.
With decades of running heritage and already with a foothold in the casuals market, to say that Walsh is ‘on trend’ is a bit of an understatement. They already have exclusive collaborations with Margaret Howell and Fred Perry Laurel Wreath under their belt which fit the Walsh British message and standing perfectly.
To add to the atmosphere they brought with them some Bolton brewed Flat Cap beer and the phenomenal Fiddler’s Lancashire Crisps which all went down very well indeed.
With a huge archive of running heritage to draw on and a willingness to move forward there could well be some exciting times ahead for Walsh footwear.
Special thanks to the Guest post by Mark Higgs and Walsh Of Bolton for putting on a great event.
