S.E is a short observational documentary about social and communal change within housing estates in South East london, directed by friend of iLL sessions, Bolade Banjo, an 18 year old freelance filmmaker and photographer based in South East London.
Bolade was inspired to do this documentary after listing to his friends mother talking about how her estate has changed over the past 20 years.
“I wanted to hear other people’s stories. I realised that the slow growth of gentrification of urban was the cause of the destruction of my communise within parts of London“.
Having grown up in South East London, Bolade told us he chose to document this area having watched the slow changes of housing estates, that in themselves house very vibrant communities, housing estates that as a young child Bolade himself had been fascinated with and wanted to explore.
Lucy Chapman single mother of one, and Margaret Dillon long term resident of the Pepys Estate, share their experiences of living in these changing urban spaces.
